Unsung
Project details
“In our world of big names, curiously, our true heroes tend to be anonymous. In this life of illusion and quasi-illusion, the person of solid virtues who can be admired for something more substantial than his well-knownness often proves to be the unsung hero: the teacher, the nurse, the mother, the honest cop, the hard worker at lonely, underpaid, unglamorous, unpublicized jobs.” —Daniel J. Boorstin
We live in a culture that prizes celebrity, while often failing to recognize and value true virtue. Unsung exists to tell the untold stories of unsung heroes. By upholding the inherent dignity and uniqueness of every person’s story, Unsung serves to inform people of individual needs and inspire them to action.
This project tells the story of Charles Graham, a homeless man who was paralyzed when he was a teenager and his incredible journey since that time. Through the various circumstances of his life he found himself in need of some help.
After releasing this piece it was featured in local news outlets and caught the attention of thousands of people in the area he was from. Through this exposure Charles was able to get a home, a job, and some financial support to get back on his feet.
